We do set goals and talk about progress on those goals throughout the course. I try to incorporate all of these strategies into my classroom except the вЂњTracking Student Progress and Scoring ScalesвЂќ as my learning goals are so broad in the classroom. I do wish that school was year-round also. It destroys the learning and trust process and children are the ones making these huge life decisions. We have around 10% of kid switch schools and come back at least once in their high school careers (our school districts are very close, 5 within 10 miles).

I miss the days when students went to school where they lived and we didnвЂ™t have schools of choice. 50% isnвЂ™t that bad, is it? I agree that changing schools is a disaster. The 6 Factors to Learning are the child, the home, the school, the curricula, the teacher, and the approaches to teaching. I tell them that it is worth it every time and will always be a lifelong learner.

My new favorite quote is вЂњEducation is more than teaching people to think вЂ“ it is also teaching people things that are worth learning.вЂќ My kids are also in love with the fact that I am going back to school and have several times. I agree that teachers need to sit back and try to get the students to have experiences but it takes a while to get the students motivated and excited enough to feel secure in the classroom to follow those impulses. I would agree with that and feel like it coincides with all of the other education classes that I have taken!
